Saskatchewan Pulse Growers is offering five undergraduate scholarships for first year students enrolled in a degree program at the University of Saskatchewan. Each scholarship is $5,000 so this is some serious money for a university student. A parent of the applicant or the applicant themselves must be a registered pulse producer, meaning they’ve grown pulses in the past two years. Applicants must also be accepted as a full time student at the U of S in the first year of an undergraduate program that is associated with the pulse industry or agriculture in some way. The selection criteria includes academic achievement in high school, interest in pursuing a career in agriculture, demonstrated leadership, and contributions to school and community life. A written essay of 500 words is part of the application requirement. If this is of interest to you or someone you know get more details including a contact name and phone number from the Saskatchewan Pulse Growers website at www.saskpulse.com. Again, five scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded. The application deadline is June 18. I’m Kevin Hursh.
